PRAY FOR HIM cover reveal

we're getting closer

We’ll keep this newsletter brief as the main event anyone is likely here for is the cover reveal, which we’ll do at the end of the newsletter! So only a few brief updates before then.

short stories and the Kickstarter

I continue to update the list of short stories that are out, or coming out, this year. As always, you can find a list of publications to date (and some upcoming) on my author website, complete with links and content warnings. A few highlights so far:

  • I have a short story I’m quite pleased with about werewolves and sapphics coming out August 20

  • I have a tragic cosmic horror not-a-romance coming out October 8

  • I have added a bit more detail about my short story in DEAD COWPOKES DON’T WRANGLE, the Kickstarter for which was a huge success!

On the last point, I am so so grateful to everyone involved on the Kickstarter—the other authors, the ones running a lot of the show behind the scenes, and everyone who came through to make it a success. I’m really excited!

on PRAY FOR HIM paperbacks

I’ve been giving this a lot of thought, but there is a chance that paperbacks won’t be available until release day (except maybe when buying from me directly). I plan on doing a more detailed social media post about this once I decide for sure and articulate the reasons for it. TBD!

mid-year check-in: how am I doing on 2024 goals?

I had three main things I said I wanted to accomplish in 2024, and now that we’re a little over halfway through the year, I wanted to check in on those. They were:

  • Continue publishing short stories—I have five out for the year so far, and a few more definitely coming. I may reach 10 for the year again!

  • Draft the next long form release—so-so on this one, I’ve started and stopped a few things. I have a horror romance I’m excited to draft that’s likely next, but for obvious reasons a lot of things have been taking my energy and priority.

  • Confirm publication date for PRAY FOR HIM and get it published—we’re almost there!

I’d say pretty good, with a few months left to go in the year!

And now, last but certainly not least…

PRAY FOR HIM cover reveal

Drum roll, please 🥁🥁🥁

The cover of PRAY FOR HIM by Tyler Battaglia. The background of the cover is black with a worn paper texture. There is the white outline of a stained glass window. In the centre of the stained glass window is a man’s torso, all in monochrome. His expression is sombre and he wears a priest’s collar. His hands are spread with stars above his palms, and his chest is open, exposing his ribs, out of which grow purple, red, and white flowers. Inside his ribs is a burning sacred heart, illuminating his ribs, the heart crowned by thorns and set in a splatter of blood. The blood drips down into the title PRAY FOR HIM and the author name TYLER BATTAGLIA at the base of the window frame outline.

The gorgeous cover of PRAY FOR HIM by the inimitable Jaria Rambaran

Isn’t it gorgeous?! Jaria Rambaran (portfolio, @jariarambaran on Instagram, @velanadesigns on Twitter/X) absolutely knocked it out of the park. Working with Jaria was a dream, and the amount of fantastic ideas she floated got me so excited. I couldn’t be happier with the cover… and the spine and back cover also look incredible. I can’t wait for people to see it in person.

As a reminder, PRAY FOR HIM is available for pre-order now before it’s October 1, 2024, release date. You can also add it to Goodreads!

Until next time. I can’t wait—we’re almost there!
